Hot Air Balloon - Front

ADVRB - HOT AIR BALLOON

'Hot Air Balloon' is a record that was created for, about, and during the summer. It employs mostly electric guitar/drums, with additions of twelve string acoustic guitar, piano, violin, cello, glokenspiel, flute, organs, harp, and assorted percussion. The meticulously re-rendered 'STEREO' logo on the front cover should serve as a premonition for the audio production - a warm, weathered throwback to production styles of the 60s and 70s.

We are taught to glide along with this record as early as its first track, which leaves no room for misinterpretation - this is a jam. This is a pulse. As much as the record sings in a sort of dirty-pop style, it doesn't belie the importance of the words- this, to Advrb, is perhaps the most important part of a song. Thankfully, a deluxe mylar/thread lyric booklet is included in this printing, making delicious use of blues and yellows. In Advrb's words-

"Hot Air Balloon feels like a breakthrough-of-sorts for the Advrb musical project. Through making up these songs I found myself letting out all sorts of ridiculous (silly content of songs, ambitious arrangements, eye popping cover art)ness that had been existing in my head for some years now. I hope it makes the listeners bob their heads or smile or gaze out bus windows longingly or car-dance."

James Herman did the amazing photography and collaborated with Advrb on the graphic design of the project. See below: A glossy mini-LP style photo sleeve with unique spraypainty disc and deluxe lyric booklet.
