ADVRB - REACH LIKE TREES Reach Like Trees is the result of Andrew challenging himself to create an entire record in one week. That specific week was April 9th-16th, 2008. During most of that week he was traveling around the state of Vermont, making up songs and recording wherever he went, attempting in his own small way to capture the coming of the springtime. The result is a record that wears tape hiss like a favorite sweater, is mostly joyous and windy. Even though there was no intended through-line when composing and recording the songs off-the-cuff, and the songs themselves are mostly the result of Andrew's life right now in Vermont and Oregon, images that bring back memories of being in elementary school in the early/mid 1990s come up often in these songs. A "cool" substitute teacher, jeans with holes in the knees, pizza parties, ice cream, and the obligatory singing of 'America The Beautiful.' Floral Print Doc Martens 1 |
