On Blustery Mornings - Front

ADVRB - ON BLUSTERY MORNINGS

This record is simultaneously cold and colorful. The songs are about isolation, wandering, and wondering.

It has a very hand-made feel, employing heavy but subtle layering of simple guitar/percussion instrumentation.

It employs the use of audio samples, particularly non-wanky saxophone, flute, violin, and cello to give it gumption.

"I made On Blustery Mornings in the Northeastern part of North America. Four songs were made in the fall and the spring in the state of Vermont. A cottage, a dance studio, a lecture hall, and a Victorian house hosted those sessions. The rest were made in Montréal, Quebec- in an apartment with hardwood floors and big windows, in the wintertime of 2007.

In May Chris Kelley threw down his skin-thumping while I played Nate Luce's guitar and Jacob Perkins created his raging arrangements and performed them in about 20 minutes. In August Caitlin Gilroy's lovely cello was recorded in the living room of her apartment in Vancouver, British Columbia and Anna Ponto's beautiful violin was recorded at my house in Eugene, Oregon. Margaret Duffy's gorgeous flouting finished things off by being recorded at my house in North Bennington in September."
