DANA AND FAITH Dana and Faith first started collaborating last Fall, charming audiences with their generous declarations of joy, energy, friendship, appreciation, and general coziness. Masters of the setting, they are probably the best at making a comfortable show- making sure there are plenty of good baked goods, nice lighting, and good seating. Two particularly interesting shows were the dessert show, which invited artists to play songs that had to do with desserts, and a traveling show, which took an audience to a new space and new artist every two songs. Their music really does fill one's heart. It brings to mind old sea shanties, big burly men with silver chest hair and oil-based paint dotting their skin. It also brings to mind a litter of kittens. Their songs are catchy, quick, funny, and smart. As gentle and lighthearted the material might seem at first, it doesn't take long to realize that there are some true tragedies within the songs (i.e. Love in a Train). Once that seeps in, the album takes on new weight and yields new appreciation. They've done quite a handful of shows at Bennington College since, and are the current Open Face representatives at our old home, as many of us graduated in the spring of 09! We are excited for them to keep putting on killer shows. Andrew Barton produced their debut release, What's Your Favorite Spice? (May 2009) and Dana and Faith have released it for free download on their bandcamp! It was meticulously hand produced by the artists, and was very quickly sold out! They are currently working on getting more copies, so we can put some up on the site and get them shipped out. MEDIA Bandcamp to download and stream their album What's Your Favorite Spice?
